Family Lucinidae

Shell size to 9 mm; shell oblique-oval, beaks pointing anteriorly, sculpture of fine commarginal lines. Shell margin finely serrated. Internal lining of valves sometimes "delaminated." Color off-white to cream-white. Shells in photos were collected by Susan J. Hewitt, loose valves in the main image from Turner Beach on Captiva, in December 2021, the valve in second image on Blind Pass, Sanibel, in December 2014.

Shell size to 17 mm; shell circular to slightly oblique-oval in outline; with weak commaginal ("concentric") sculpture, sometimes with a hint of faint radial ribs on the centro-posterior part of the external shell surface; margin denticulate within. Color white, with eventual pale yellow tinges. Species first recorded on Sanibel in 1998 by Dr. John D. Taylor of the Natural Hsitory Museum (London). Shell size to 50 mm; shell circular, large, inflated. Sculpture of numerous, weak, concentric growth lines. Hinge teeth weak. Color dull-white sometimes with light-orange bands, internally bright-yellow to orange.
