Shell size to 80 mm; shell similar to Vermicularia fargoi, but whorls smooth. Wound stage ("turritella") about 15 Color light-brownish, first few whorls (juvenile shell) white. The supplementary illustration shows a young Florida Worm Snail collected in 2018 by Kimberly Nealon, Bowman's Beach, Sanibel.

Shell size to 80 mm; shell uncoiled, with tightly coiled juvenile shell; wound ("turritella") stage about 25 Adult whorls squarish in cross-section. Sculpture of three spiral cords. Color brownish.
